Wouldn't have though it makes a difference since doesnt it take a couple of hours to digest food unlesss its whey? Also how can you find the time to eat every hour?

If eating 6 times a day is better than 3 times a day, would it be better to eat a smaller amount every hour or so?

In school it is not a problem, I eat when I get home, work out, eat, if I have to do something that day I pack something, and eat when I get back, then eat every hour cause I'm at home.Originally Posted by APG
Sure - if you are finding it hard to get all your calories in, then go for it - but otherwise it will not help you out in any way...
The reasons why you eat regularly (5 to 6 small meal) are mostly for:
1. Satiety (when you are cutting)
2. Helps you get in the calories (when you are bulking)
The small increase in metabolism that most people talk about (related to thermogenesis) is not hugely significant in the grand scheme of things - and would not offset the time/energy and hassle of eating that frequently.
Plus - in terms of blood glucose/insulin stability - if you are eating a good mix of low GI carbs, protein and healthy fats, then your blood levels are going to be good and eating more frequently will not offer you any benefits over and above the 2 to 3 hours that is recommended to match the normal 'post-absorptive' period for nutrient uptake anyway.
Actually - If anything - it could be detrimental to you as your insulin levels would be that much higher more constantly and you could increase the risks of concequences of that (decreased insulin sensitivity, decreased lipolysis etc).

Damn she's good.

Hey Emma, I remember you saying that fat slows down digestion or gastric emptying. How much would about 10 grams of fat slow down the food your digesting?

Yes, fats delay gastric emptying but I would not be able to tell you to the minute!! The rate of gastric emptying is highly dependant on LOTS of things - what else you ate (protein, fibre, carbs), the consistency of the meal (liquid v's solid), the consistency of the fat itself (if it was added or in the food, if it was liquid or solid), and things to do with your physiology - such as your activity at that time and soon after, your hormone levels...!!Originally Posted by XcelKrush
I don't know what 10g would do - but there would probably be a dose-response type situation, at least initially, - Meaning that, at least to a certain point in quantity, the more fats you add, the greater the increase in time of gastric emptying...
