It is ok.
i eat a ton of rice each day..maybe like 6 cups(might not be alot to some of you lol.) but i know the GI is low, but i looked up on glycemicindex.com and it said it has a high glycemic load. should i be worried?
i dunno what id do without rice. itd make my carb totals impossible to achieve.
and i only eat brown rice, oats, apples, oranges, whole grain bread, sometimes sweet tatos, and an occasional banana for carbs. this ok or do i need more sources?
It is ok.
The brown rice is fine. It's a combo of GL & GI that matters. Brown rice releases insulin slowly into the system as to not cause an insulin spike. So yes, you can continue eating brown rice.

GL refers to the amount of glucose in the blood that you will get from a typical serve size. Because rice is pretty energy dense (and most of this is from starch, which is converted to glucose), the amount of glucose you get is high - so the glycaemic load is high.Originally Posted by njdevil13
All it means is that you have to be careful about serving size and you should combine it with things like salad (lettuce, celery etc) that will 'bulk the meal out' without adding calories.
This is great! But other sources like legumes (chick-peas, lentils, beans, chana dhal), other grains (barley, rye, buckwheat), other fruits (berries, stone fruits) and skim dairy are also good sources.and i only eat brown rice, oats, apples, oranges, whole grain bread, sometimes sweet tatos, and an occasional banana for carbs. this ok or do i need more sources?

exactly. you eat enough brown rice in one meal and your serum insullin levels will get jacked up. I would combine the rice with some other higher fiber carb like beans or lentils. there isn't much fiber in brown riceOriginally Posted by Emma-Leigh

so say if i eat 2 cups of brown rice per meal,(about 90 carbs), should i combine that with a couple cups of veggies to balance out the insulin serum levels? ill also have some chicken and almonds/peanuts in the meal.

personaly I would have 1 cup of rice & 1 cup of beans. you stil aren't going to get hardly any fiber from veggies, unless you eat a 10 lbs of them. the nuts are a good addition
