I talked to a top 10 pro about his diet...

I'm not going to name him...No!

He eats 3-5 high protien meals per day and snacks on nuts, and protein shakes plus vitamins, flax/EFA's all day. He eats super high protein and fairly high fat year round...low carb YEAR AROUND! For carbs he adds in fiberous fruits. I think his protien meals are chicken/fish, I'm sure there are eggs in there somewhere. and veggies but light carb. His parting words..."Double your protein and fat intake and add in fiberous fruits as you feel the need." Pretty simple stuff really.

Oh, he really stressed the importance of glutamine.

Also, I asked him if he felt tired/drained without more carbs, and he said "Absolutely...deal with it."

Doesn't sound like anything that isn't in the stickies already. Certainly isn't Rocket Science.

Actually, that surprises me. To restrict carbs year round (even when bulking) doesn't seem ideal to me. There are times when having your glycogen maximized if beneficial for recovery and anabolism in general. Plus, I have more productive high volume workouts when I have plenty of carbs to use.

No, I didn't pay him. I was mainly interested in the fact that he deemphasized carbs. He said the main reason was it kept him in near contest shape year around so that he would look good for non contest appearances as part of his work as a pro. I've seem him informally for the last couple of years and he is always somewhat vascular.

a lot of the bb'ers that I know that are lean all year round all do the same thing. one NPC bb'er that I know only uses gear pre-comp she is probably 10-12% body fat all year round.

i think he forgot to mention that he also takes massive amounts of drugs year round which would probably cancel out the whole, lack of anabolism from carbs dilemma.
