    Question I Need Guidance !!!! I Need Advice !!!!

    Gday All,
I'm a new member & this is my first post so be patient with me please!!!

So I want to get buffed who doesn't its a bodybuilding forum right !!! I Know I know.....but where do I start.... well a concern I have at the moment is 'AM I eating too much????' 'AM I eating enough???'

    I'am truely unsure...... I'm 28yo 185cm & weigh 80Kg & would say that I have an athletic build.

I have started a basic program (I assume its basic I don't find it that hard & manage to breeze through it normaly in abt 40 min to an hour) over the past few weeks & have noticed definite toning in my arms, abs & chest ( I have done weights & sports on & off throughout my 20's.

So back to the food...I try to keep my carbs down & protein up, I have a protein shake in the morning normally 30 - 60 min after my workout, I try to have a snack b4 lunch & again b4 dinner....then after dinner I'm always up & down to the fridge snacking....all sorts, nuts, dried fruit, boiled eggs (whites only) etc etc...should I listen to my body's urges to eat ??? or am I just being weak ???
    Your Thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Am I to understand that you have no breakfast, or your breakfast is a protein shake? You definetly need some carbs in there.

What are the "snacks" to which you refer? Post a more specific meal outline.

Also look through the old posts, TONS of information there to at least get you started.

Yeah generally just a shake for breakfast, today as an example mid morning a couple of bits of toast with baked beans, lunch was stirfry with rice, chicken, corn, beans & snow peas, mid afternoon a bit more stirfry & a muslei slice. a couple of boiled eggs when I got home & dinner tonight I was feeling lazy so focacia bread with some ham ,lettuce, capsicum a bit of cheese & mustard.... & tonight who knows some peanuts, dried fruit, a cup of tea, a muslei slice etc.

Also what size meal should I consider ??? & also any help ppl can provide as to what figures I should be looking for on the back of food packages (eg ratio of carbs to protein etc)
    Thanks again

What you need to do is first figure put how much protein you need. Then add in the fats and try to keep them less than 30% of your total cals. The rest are carbs.

Divide your cals into 6 meals keeping cals in a similar range. Dont eat too many in one meal and too few in another.

A great place to start is by reading the excellent sticky 'guide to ...'. Then post your diet meal by meal with total cals and macros along with your stats and goal for a critique.

ok, well heres the thing, to get buffed, your going to eat a lot, but to get cut your going to eat less. makes sense right? its all about the diet man

    I'am truely unsure...... I'm 28yo 185cm & weigh 80Kg & would say that I have an athletic build.

sounds like your confident of your workout, possibly post it in the training section after youve researched muscle gain exercises a little and see if someone can critique it for you

So back to the food...I try to keep my carbs down & protein up, I have a protein shake in the morning normally 30 - 60 min after my workout, I try to have a snack b4 lunch & again b4 dinner....then after dinner I'm always up & down to the fridge snacking....all sorts, nuts, dried fruit, boiled eggs (whites only) etc etc...should I listen to my body's urges to eat ??? or am I just being weak ???

trust me, if your are going to want to get "buffed" you want more carbs than protein otherwise the body is starving for energy sources and uses that extra protein your taking in and keeps you from getting any bigger, especially if your on a calorie deficit. post a detaiiled list of what you eat and when so we can give you a little heads up on what you can do to improve it for bulking. also check out the guide to cuttinb bulking and maintenance, it should have a part in there telling you the basic formulas for finding out what your daily caloric usage is and everything, but ot gain you have to have a surplus of calories in which you can grow off of, eating less and exercising with high protein will get you toned all right, but not buffed or big. you wont have to listen to your body's urges to eat because you should be satisfied after every meal when bulking IMO

    Your Thoughts are greatly appreciated.
