    3 day diet crap....

One of my close firends can be a bit of an idiot...He is not fat or overweight, actually kinda small for his frame, but generaly healthy, even with his food choices. He ate loads of "bad" stuff over a few days for easter, saying he wasnt worried, as he would do his "3 day diet" soon after...I cant freaking beleive what this diet is made of and tried to explain how shitty of an idea this is....Looking for more arguments as "his sister's uncle's brother" told him it works great and he has been doing it for years.....hummm, if he has to keep doing this lame diet, Im thinking it aint working!!!lol

    The stupid a$$ diet:

The miracle diet works on the chemical break-down of certain foods on the body. It delivers an average of 1,000 calories per day. Remember to follow these guidelines:

    1. Consult your doctor before starting the diet.
    2. Do not skip meals.
    3. Drink four to eight 8 oz. glasses of water daily.
    4. Do not add fats when preparing food.
    5. This diet should be used for three days--followed by four days of normal eating. You can lost 40 lbs. a month if you stick to it.

    Day 1

    Breakfast

    • Half grapefruit
1 slice toast, 2 tbs. peanut butter
      Black coffee or tea

    Lunch

    • Half cup tuna, plain
      1 slice toast
      Black coffee or tea

    Dinner

    • 3 slices of any meat (4-6 oz. before cooking)
      1 cup of string beans
      1 cup beets
      1 small apple
1 cup vanilla ice cream (Must be Healthy Choice or any other low-fat ice cream)

    Day 2

    Breakfast

    • 1 egg
      Half banana
      1 slice toast
      Black coffee or tea

    Lunch

    • 1 cup cottage cheese
      6 Saltine crackers

    Dinner

    • 2 hot dogs (WTF???????)
      1 cup broccoli
      Half cup carrots
      Half banana
Half cup vanilla ice cream (Healthy Choice)

    Day 3

    Breakfast

    • 5 Saltine crackers
      1 slice cheddar cheese
      1 small apple
      Black coffee or tea

    Lunch

    • 1 hard-boiled egg
      1 slice toast

    Dinner

    • 1 cup of tuna, plain
      1 cup beets
      1 cup cauliflower
      Half cantaloupe
Half cup vanilla ice cream (Healthy Choice)

Important: do not vary any of the above foods. And yes, low-fat vanilla ice cream is an important part of each day on this diet!

    i would b hungry on ---5 Chz N crackers & 1 apple for breakfast!
    i would b hungry on --- 1/2 c. of Tuna/ 1 slice of Toast for lunch!
    "......................... --- fruits & veggies/1 c. of tuna for dinner!
    "......................... --- 1c. Cottage Chz & 6 crackers for lunch!

In other words, go hungry for 3 days and eat No fats? To me, this would be impossible (IF) one was trying to (TRAIN) losing weight w/Cardio and/or building muscle at the same time? It seems like the body would go into starvation mode and start eating away at the (dreaded thought?) of eating Muscle when the body gets hungry?

    Am i right?

Yes, if you don't eat enough calories your body will start to use whatever you are made of as fuel (fat or muscle).

This diet might work short term because it's probably just enough calories (for some people) to keep your metabolism going and not have your body shut down.

If you are going to eat only 1000 calories a day though, I would make 250-500 of them a protein shake and maybe lose the hot dogs lol.

    Thank ya lady!!
My menu is much lenghtier and most importantly, healthier than this stupid diet....

I spoke to him about it again this am, he wont budge(sp?)..."this works, and its all healthy food" he says... "I just want to loose my little belly fat"...WTF, HOT DOGS!!?? H-E-L-L-O?! It says it 1000 cals, I havent calculated it, but I think there's no way! Theres just no nutritional value in crakers and sausage. he doesnt lift but speed walks/bikes about 4-5 times/week...Sure, he drops like 10 pounds in 3 days...It aint fat tho...Ill see him again in 48 hours and ask to see his freaking tummy...whatever he's burning it aint that!

If he is adamant to try it, then let him go ahead. Take measurements of not only his tummy, but also arms, chest and legs. So eventually you can show him that while he might have lost a bit around the tummy, he has also lost valuable lbm from other places as well.

Everyone has their bullshit diets. I lost 30lbs a few years ago by eating nothing but candy bars and soda pop. Of course, a ton of it was muscle, it screwed up my metabolism, and I was dead tired. But people were impressed when they saw me before and after! I've lost nearly that much now 9and almost all fat) doing things right. Eventually people figure out a sensible way to do things, if they want to get off the fat-skinny-fat again rollercoaster. The true test won't be how much LBM he loses, as muscle loss in cutting and fat gain in bulking is to be expected. It's if he keeps it off that matters. And if this is his little crash diet that he doesn't live and die by, he'll probably be fine.

Me, I'd just write off those 3 days and maintain my current diet, maybe with some extra cardio and slightly less cals.

40 pounds in a month is insanely stupid.... even if just half of that weight was fat(the rest obviously being precious sweet LBM) there is 3000 calories in single pound of fat! so 20 * 3000 = 60000 calories thats 2000 calories a day you'd have burn plus you have to burn the 1000 calories you ate each day. they might be able to do it for a week before they DIE! but i wouldn't recommend it

your friends is obviously uneducated on anything close to the subject
