    Horrible protein powder!!

I have bought some protein powder and ditched the protein bars (as advised) and began adding it to my diet in order to loose weight and gain muscle

The thing is it tastes awful....I stuck it in my porridge(oatmeal) for breakfast and it made it glupy and lumpy even though I mixed it well in the water before adding it!! I managed to eat it though...just

Ive had as a shake with my apples to add protein as advised.....but it tastes like dish water!! I am sorry to moan but I just wondered if it is just the type of powder i have bought (Promax Bannanna flavour, from UK)
or are they all the same??

I had a great meal plan for losing weight done by Emma-Leigh...(Thank you)
so if you or anyone could reply agian i'd be chuffed

No point me adding it to milk as Im cutting on that in my diet to loose the pounds!! XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Add it to milk or something, never add it to your oatmeal because that tastes horrible. I dont see why you wouldnt drink milk when loosing weight unless your trying to prepare for a contest. Everything Ive always read/tried encourages the use of milk for weight loss. I know milk stays with you though and makes your skin look somewhat soft, so its not good precontest.

Hmmmm......So I should keep the milk, its just someone said to have less milk....and I thought cus of the sugars init it upped your carb intake and wasnt good for those loosing fat..... I get more confused by the second but you are right it tastes better with milk...maybe I could do it half milk half water....and stomach the porridge...

    Thanks!! xx

    What do you reckon??

Check out Optimum Nutrition whey, its not bad. I prefer Designer Whey, it is one of the best in my opinion. Ive had promax and it does taste like sick.

I read that milk is supposed to have fat blocking enzymes or something. I have a cup in the morning with my breakfast, just add that into your daily carbs, its only 12-15.

Hi there!!! Thats great cus you live in the UK so at least what you recommend will be easier to buy.....I kind of thought it would all taste the same but i'll get some of what your havin!!

Yeah I just have milk in the morning with my porridge which I love...only cereal that fills me up!! I'l try adding some of the new protein powder I purchase init or drink that with the milk...im sure a little milk here and there wouldn't make too much difference to weight loss

    Thanks for advice!! xxxxx

Personally if your trying to lose weight i would drop the milk. It contains simple carbs. If you must have it, have it in the morning.

Lol if you think promax tastes bad you're in trouble, my mate has some of it and i think it tastes a lot better than most of them. Promax is a rip off anyway, maximuslce products are way over-priced. As stated above ON whey is pretty decent stuff, check out www.discount-supplements.co.uk for a good price.

    Hope this helps

Another member from the uk here by the way.

Hey KittyKat...ALL protein powders are NOT created equal. Dont buy a huge tub of it until you find one that YOU like. I like All The Whey's chocolate, O.N.'s (all flavors). Dont buy some cheap one.

You might want to try them out first. It is also a question of getting used to it.

I would suggest drop the milk, if thats what u discussed with Emma in your diet. Else if you must add milk (go for skim milk, not whole milk), and you might have to rework some macros to compensate.

I have to agree completely. I know of several guys who cant take All The Whey because of the lactose content...dont know for sure if there are different types but O.N.'s is hard to beat. I was pimping All The Whey since a rep on here was "sponsoring" our next powerlifting event but she didnt come thru. We will have records in several different age/weight classes after today...would have been good advertisement for our whole crew to be wearing All The Whey T-shirts. Too bad I guess.

one of the best insights to what the hell protein is all about is http://www.proteinfactory.com/store/
This site, will give you a very good overview of what proteins are good for what purpose and time. the information, I think is one of the best places to understand why some of the cheaper proteins will give you less results or not anything to benefit you. I know they sell "mix your own protein", but I found them to be a little pricey, but like I said, the site can give you a very good over view of different proteins and there ultimate potential or falls

The Instone stuff is a little pricey, but tastes fantastic with just water. Otherwise, I use a low carb skim milk made by Hoods. (Not sure if you can get it across the pond, but you could always try no sugar soy milk.)

I eat whey in my oatmeal every morning. I use banana and add a spoon of natty pb. Try using the quick oats, cook thru, add the pb, mix smooth, then add the powder. It should get really thick, then as the powder is absorbed, it will loosen up. It's a great start to the day, IMHO.

Hey - maybe I am too late - but I wanted to let you know that you CAN get all the whey products all the way over in the UK.
We now make them available through www.cheapuksupplement.com

I hope you give them a try.
