    Pumpkin ok on a cut?

I found a couple of good recipes with pumpkin in them. Is it ok to eat on a cut? I did a search, and from what I found, it's considered a good carb, like sweet potatos.

I would say yes if, like every carb on a cut, in moderation. The only thing you have to make sure is you get pure pumpkin not pumpkin pie mix.

Have you ever had straight pumpkin (not the guts but the inside, just cut out, uncooked)? It tastes like cauliflower IMO.

No, I've never had that. I'm actually a relatively new fan of pumpkin. Never really like it much until recently. Just wanted to double check that it's ok before I started making some yummy pumpkin recipes. It should break up the boredom a little.

Check out the recipe forum. There are some good ideas there, my personal favourite is pumpkin pancakes.

If you are just trying to lose some weight then pumpkin is certainly fine! To me, pumpkin is one of those weird vegetables that is half-way between a starchy carb and a vegetable... There is not quiet enough energy rich carbs to be considered a starch, but not quiet enough fibre to make it a 'fibrous' vegetable.

However, 100g raw only has about 6g of carbs (~1g of which is fibre), and the GL is 3 (per 85g serve)... So, as long as you keep your servings appropriate it is certainly not going to do enough damage to cause too many ripples...

However, if you are strictly cutting (pre-comp), and you are a few weeks out, then I would be much more careful with it and you would certainly count it as a true carb.
