I am trying to understand the effects of insulin and glucose on the body and I have a specific situation that might help me better understand. Lets say that someone eats a meal that has a high GI count and about an hour or two later eats some type of fatty food, say a doughnut. How would this effect the body?
In terms of real world effects, if I take out a bunch of cho or protein in one sitting, doesn't matter about the GI, my insulin will crash about half hour later or so.
Once I come out of the coma, if I eat another meal, high fat, protein or carb, so long as I don't go over the calorie total for my previous meal there won't be a crash again that day.
I have repeated this scenario for a very long time to different degrees.
High GI by itself may not cause much of a crash unless you eat quite a bit of it.
First thing in the morning I can eat more than usual and not end up in a coma due to lower baseline insulin levels from the nighttime. Eat cho after a workout and I will pass out.
