    calorie measurement?

    how do they measure the calories of food?

    is their an instrument you can buy to measure your meals at home?

    I believe that they burn it and measure how much energy is given off... Im pretty sure you'd need a lab for that.... sorry bro

    Not unless you have some cool lab equipment lying around!

    and find the values of your individual foods then add them together.

    Yeah, we kinda did something like that when I was in highschool, burnt peanuts etc in biology class-ha, education at it's best. As far as calculating how many calories a piece of food has you'll pretty much have to do it yourself. Try and be as accurate as possible from reading the nutritional info on packets. Remember, 1g of carbs/protein equals 4 calories, and 1g of fat is 9 calories. Good luck.
