Unless your competing or something I wouldnt worry too hard over it. I eat banannas. If your doing everything right bannanas can absolutely be consumed.
Ok a while back someone told me that while cutting bananas aren't the best choice of fruit, so i stopped eating them and instead ate pears and apples for the most part. My question is, if bananas really aren't the greatest fruit for cutting....why? I picked up pears because someone told me that they were less carb dense or something? or maybe is had something to with the GI in pears or something, i really have no idea. But if someone on here could explain these things to me, it would be greatly appreciated.

No, absolutely not. Bananas are very high in sugars and you are better off with low gi fruits.
I say this because most people that are cutting are not ectomorphs, such as myself and a banana WILL in FACT hinder my results.

Although I agree that in the case of people (like yourself) who are looking to lose those last few points of BF when trying to get into contest shape, there is no reason why everyday people (especially young growth teenagers) who are just trying to trim down should cut them out.
As long as it fits into their daily requirements they are fine.
i eat a banana every once in a while i guess you could say. (once or twice a month at the most) i usually eat apples or pears, but basically bananas are fine??

Well said. Just because bananas are a bit more calorie dense and have a slightly higher glucose/fructose ratio compared to apples doesn't mean they need to be excluded altogether. I find them much more satisfying then apples, as well.Originally Posted by Emma-Leigh
Now I was told that banana's give your metabolizm a boast something to do with them being rich in potassium? but im confused now
I dont know for sure about the metabolism thing, but i don't see why it would. banana's, compared to other foods, are nothing special as far as potassium amounts. All fruits and veggies contain loads of the stuff and beans are like the SUPER potassium food.
I'm not sure about boosting metabolism, but lots of runners say that the high levels of potassium in bananas helps speed recovery.
