    Bulking + more

Okay, my brother used to post here a lot. MyCATpowerlifts? But, recently I have been doing a lot of thinking on my training. Since I hit highschool we've been doing a lot smarter lifting. Now that summer is rolling around I'm wondering what to do. I have 4 more weeks of school and mandatory lifting once a day. Usually we do chest one day bench+militarypress+incline then some assorted lifts flies, tri lifts and others then leg day squat+powerclean+deadlift+lunges+legextenion+legcu rl. But right now I'm sitting at 6'2 220-230 I'm 15 and yes a little overweight. I'm in football shape though so I'm pretty athletic. I've been wondering what to do. I've always had problems with my squat form. But recently I've fixed it a lot ( still some to go ) and my squat has gone up 50 lbs in about 3 weeks. Some of this can be attributed to proper form but what I've heard is my squat should have went down some because I'm not using my legs as much. And my bench has gone up probably 20 lbs. My question is - should I bulk now and get big as possible in the next 4-6 weeks then cut? Or should I cut now then bulk again then cut again? And also, is it safe for me to use creatine? My brother does along with other kids in my school but I don't want to hurt myself. I know I need a lot of water to take it but do any of you think it would help in the cutting/bulking process?

Jordan....it depends on your goals. As well as your body fat %....if you have a really high bf% then I'd say just go with a cut for a few weeks then bulk up some. But if your at an average % I say go on a bulk. Try and add some lbm while your young. At your age its easy to build and you will naturally burn fat while doing so and all will even out. Its really your call but smaller cycles are what work best small cuts and bulks.

Well, I spoke to my brother and he thinks it would be better idea to just keep lifting but put in more cardio and eating better on the whole ( I'm not great at eating healthier foods not picky just lazy and lack of access ). But I'm at about 25-30% body fat? Also should I use supplements? Whey? Creatine? Lots of kids at my school use creatine but high risk?

25-30% is pretty high. Personally, I would cut at that range.

There isn't much risk to using creatine, except to your wallet if you buy an expensive product (or if you have any pre-existing kidney problems). CEE would probably be best since most people will respond to it (you can always try Creatine monohydrate if you have a more limited budget). It will help in bulking or cutting, as it will help you lift greater weights.

I definetly wouldn't be bulking with 25% + bf. at that range you will do nothing but gain a lot more fat and very little muscle. at that range of bf your insulin sensitivity is very poor which will greatly effect nutrient partitioning. meaning more nutrients will be diverted to your fat cells vs muscle cells.

Well, I'm naturally an easy gainer so I don't think it will be hard maintaining or even increasing in strength even though I'm cutting.

You can't "tone" and bulk at the same times. You build muscle or lose body fat...but you don't do them at the same time unless your new to training. If you want to get bigger do so....read the stickies at the top of the page and learn how to do it. We are only here to help people after they have taken the time out to educate themselves. If you don't want to be educated you don't really care.
