    Endurance athletics and carbs ...

I keep swaying off being strict ... but I'm motivated again, and ready to buckle down.

    I lost a lot of weight on tp's carb-cycling ...

My major thing is ... I've been doing a lot of endurance athletics, mostly cycling (road and mountain) ... for which of course you need carbs. So I take a few different clean carb supplements while I'm riding, such as hammer gel and sustain. (gel / sustain

I'd like to switch from going to the gym 4-5 days a week and riding 2 ... to riding 4-5 days a week and going to the gym 2.

Should I make sure to get a pre-specified amount of carbs daily, instead of carb-cycling? Maybe I should carb cycle and only take additives when I'm riding? Ignoring if it's a no carb day, and I ride, take the carbs since they'll be burned up anyways? Maybe some variation of no/low/high?

I still would like to lose over 20lbs ... I know a lot of it will come off as I ride more, and my muscle goes down some (along with fat), but I'm just curious, I don't want to do the wayyy wrong thing.

    Thanks in advance!!!

When I do endurance rides I eat a good amount of oatmeal in the morning, something dairy also for the casein protein, and then I snack on gummy bears throughout the ride (picked this trick up from the US Postal team).

Hrm ... I never thought about gummy bears ... but I just did a google search and I guess people will eat anything while riding!

With the whole cycle part of carb-cycling, I just wonder if having carbs totally negates the cutting effects of the diet. So say I don't do a FULL cycle, but more low/high variations ...

Some people can lose weight just fine with high carbs. Weight is really about the negotiation of calories--burn more than you take in, lose weight. Reverse, the opposite is true. Some people's bodies though respond well to low-carb, or carb cycling, to burn more fat.
