A lot of people do not like it. But I am of the opinion that as long as it fits into your daily carbohydrate requirements - then you should be fine to eat it.

The reason why people do not like it is because, although it is a grain (and it has a lowish GI), it's starch content is low and most of it's calories are from simple sugars.

When people begin to cut for competitions, they tend to eliminate most sugars from their diet (in favour of starchy carbs) - so corn gets cut as well.

If you are bulking or maintaining then go for it. If you are just regular 'dieting' then some corn will also not hurt you. If you are cutting for a competition I recommend you be a little more careful in adding it to your diet.

as Emma pointed out most of the carbs in corn come from sugars. besides being high in Vitamin K corn is pretty useless in terms of nutrition.

the human body does not readily digest whole corn either for that matter so to me that's pretty much a sign to stay away...

Actually the corn you see in your poop is the outside of the kernal only and it is filled with poop. You do digest the inside of the kernal but it appears as if you haven't. Just a crappy illusion.

How come when you eat corn, no matter how much you chew it, you poop it out in whole kernals?

    (Question submitted by Timzx)

Corn poop is one of the greatest mysteries in life. I grew up pondering the same question. This is what I think is happening:
When we chew corn, the outer coating slips off the inner kernal. This outer yellow coating is almost entirely cellulose, and is indigestible. It passes through the gut untouched, and emerges looking like a whole kernal, although it is mostly just the outer skin. The inside of the kernal is starchy and digestible, and that is the part that we succeed in chewing up.

This happens to me when I eat almost every food. It was not very pleasant when I ate a whole chicken.

Adding a little here and there like in a ground turkey, brown rice, tomato sauce mix will add some flavor and help you keep with your diet.

Did the head come out first or what? Incidentally, your nose is getting pretty long these days.

Corn pellets are fun to crap out. They add a smooth texture to things.
