Try to switch to diet and even then limit it to a just 1 or servings a day. Whenever I want a diet soda, I drink a tall glass of water. Then if I still want one I drink it.

When I was in football, our coach always told us we couldn't drink anything carbonated because carbonation constricts your airway. Don't know how true that is, but I know that the buttloads of sugar in there aren't good.

It can give you stomach pressure and gas which is not very helpful when excersizing.

But I would still only recommend water during actual lifting sessions. |

Even if you drink diet, the phosphoric acid and carbonation are rough on tooth enamel and excess phosphorus can cause calcium to leach from the bones. In short, soda should be consumed like birthday cake...a couple of times a year on special occasions. |

I don't drink pop much but I was just having a root beer and it read 45g sugar, on my sugar bag it says 4 g each teaspoon, that almost 12 teaspoons a can, eek! almost all the ingredients are all sugars, sheesh! remember when it was made with sarsaparilla root ?
In the UK we had Dandelion & Burdock pop. |

Bro, soda is never, ever good. And it's not even good tasting, tastes like car-battery...

Anything that can be used to remove rust concerns me about putting it in my body.

If you're a soda drinker, try replacing it with juice. That's what I did, then I started drinking water instead. I don't even like soda any more.... there are so many kinds of juice that taste better anyway. Try to stick with juices that don't have added sugar... they taste the same anyway IMO.

Thanks for all the info guys and gals. I didn't drink soda for the 6 years i wrestled. Then when i stopped...it was like i went on a soda binge. Now im addicted. If i dont have one by 10 or 11 in the morning i have a killer headache. I have been lowering the intake little by little. I know its bad for me and i need to stop...its just really hard to quite all together. Thanks again.

i tried the new Diet Coke with Splenda in it the other day. I've always hated diet coke, and stayed away from Coke Classic cause its really damn bad for you. I must say though the new formula is VERY tasty, and I LOATHE diet drinks, I'd give it a shot if you need something besides water.

i must say i disagree with a lot of the responses on the thread. Soda is fine, as long as you stick to diet. I've been drinking a ton of diet soda every day for 3 years. hell I'll even take one to the gym with me (or a sugar free redbull if im really tired) because I go after I get off work, and im always ass tired cause my shift starts at 4 in the morning.
True, drinking as much diet soda as i do isnt exactly the healthiest thing I could be doing, but i dont buy all the cancer claims. Those lab tests are all fundamentally flawed. And surely one or two cans a day aint gonna kill you. I drink a lot of water but if im eating something salty or just watching TV and bored I dont want any damn water |
