Attack of the belly fat
It seems no matter how strict I am with my diet I can't seem to get rid of pesky belly fat. As of right now I'm 17.5% bf. I'm sure some of the problem is I don't get enough cardio into my workouts, but I hit the gym at 5 am and that gives me enough time for the weights only. I keep telling myself when I get home from work (5-5:30 pm) to get on the bike or do something but by that time I'm wiped from getting up so early.
Now my diet. I consider pretty strict for a recreational body builder. By no means do I compare my diet to that of a pro BB. Routinely I will eat either Quaker Oats oatmeal (w/ brown sugar or honey) with turkey bacon or an 2 egg sandwich with cheese and soy sausage for breakfast. For lunch I always eat salad w/ grilled chicken with egg, shredded cheese, and honey mustard salad dressing. Dinner is normally the lightest meal of the day since it's close to night time. The dinner menu is normally chicken, red meat, with a vegetable. Once maybe twice a week normally on the weekend I will have a cheat meal that is high caloric. I drink water with all my meals with the exception of a glass of juice with breakfast. As someone looking through the glass which part diet or cardio needs to stepped up? Another things is I don't want to lose quality muscle so getting in the single digit bf % is not ideal. I do think the 11-13% is obtainable. |

Id be tempted to say tweak your diet for a while....Caloric distribution and intake can make a huge differenc in how ur body burns that damn fat. (Im thinking eat more often and make better choices...) Do do cardio, but doing shitloads could do nothing but make you overtrain if your diet isnt right in the first place.

ya i have 16.4 BF% and is no where close to seeing my abs. You have to space out your meals more (eat like 6 small meals a day) and cardio is very important to burn off fat. Maybe try eating some new foods that u havent tried yet (like cottage cheese) and mix it up.

Once I started doing manual labor the belly fat I got over the winter layoff disappeared like magic. I knew a guy who did cardio 3 hours every evening to keep his BF down.

Hey Thinman...good to see you here.
I think cardio is key! I know for me, it takes a lot of it to help me maintain or to burn extra fat. I usually do cardio about 3 or 4 times a week. You also need to look at what else is going on in your body, medically speaking. Are you diabetic, do you have a strong family history of heart disease or high cholesterol? All of this stuff plays a role in your physique. You can be naturally gifted or not. Good luck! |

I would definetly try to clean up the diet. one technique that you can use that really doesn't involve counting cals etc. is to design your meals so that they consist of only either protein/carbs or protein/fats. so for example your first 3 meals could be protein(s) and carbs and the last 2 or 3 could be just protein(s) and fats.
you may also want to look into using and ECA stack. ephedrine can do wonders for abdominal fat stores when used in conjunction with a clean diet and a little cardio... |

Do you drink beer?, even if I'm at 10% body fat, if I'm drinking beer my stomach seems to hold allot of fat.

My best diet lesson I learned so far is that no matter how good you think your diet is... if you aren't yielding results with fat loss, it probably could use a change of some sort. I would say relook the diet.
