I understand that. I meant, what was the difference in what theire purposes are, the fish oil, vs. flax oil.

Fish oil is really high is DPA and EPA omega 3s er whutever which is good

flax is just high in omega 3s and comes from plant (weak IMO)

Flax oil = plant source of omega-3. It has ALA. This is an essential fatty acid and is essential for your health.

Fish oil = EPA and DHA. These are two very important omega-3 fatty acids that are MADE from ALA in your body.... BUT, they are made VERY POORLY in most people - and so, even if you take in adequate ALA, you may still be deficient in EPA and DHA because your bodies conversion is not sufficient.

Flax oil also has omega-6... And most people (nearly everyone) really should not supplement with omega-6. We usually get enough from our diets and supplementing with MORE can actually disturb the ratio of omega-6 : omega-3 fats in your body. Basically, you want this level to be as close to 1:1 as you can manage and some people can have ratio's as high as 20-30:1!! So more omega-6 is not needed.

You can read more about it in my post in this thread about fish oil capsules (Fish Oil Caps).
