Question about wheat bread
So im starting to tighten up my diet, relizing that everyone preaches 6 meals, I was concerned about bread. I know that everyone says white bread is taboo. What about whole wheat bread? Is there anything bad about it that I shouldnt be eating it? I really dont want to eat tuna without bread.
This would be a link to the bread that I bought for my tuna sandwiches. http://www.miltonsbaking.com/bread_p...rain_bread.htm Also would it be ok for me to have this bread plain as a snack with hard boiled eggs. Thanks, Tweaked |

If you are going to eat breads, the usual suggestion is sprouted or essene breads are the best for you.... After that then you have your highly grained breads made with wholegrain flour (mega-grain/highly seeded breads) and, after that, you have your whole wheat (but, in the grand scheme of things, it is not much better for you than a 'high fibre' white bread). Personally, I would certainly limit bread to only 1-2 slices a day. Bread is very nutritionally void - it does not have a lot of vitamins, minerals or other things in it that more natural carb sources have (water, phytochemicals, anti-oxidants, fibre etc) - so it is not as healthy for you. Bread is also not going to be as good for filling you up and keeping you full (lower fibre content/lower 'bulk effect' and higher GI than a lot of the legumes, fruits and whole grains) and will have a lower thermogenic effect too (it takes less energy to burn than other more fibrous starchy carbs). At least if you eat sprouted/essence bread you still get most of the vitamins/minerals, water, fibre and other good things in a lower GI package. |

Most of these so called breads contain HFCS. You'll want to go with organic bread that does not.

Get a fresh 100% whole grain whole wheat bread from a bakery every week. A bakery won't put preservatives in it like the crap bread they sell at most stores. Each slice will have about 100 calories and it's a good source of fiber. |

I just eat brown rice and mixed veggies instead of wheatbread. I am currently cuting
though. There is worse things you can eat. Like Emma said try and go for High grain breads you'll better off and actually get something out of it nutrition wise. |

The best tasting healthy bread I've ever had...
The Health Loaf from Eli Zabar (you can order it online, or see if there is a store near you that carries it). It's got sugar (by way of the honey used in it), but it is all natural ingredients and it is dense and filling. One slice was definitley satisfying. Now, whether you can/should eat this on a cut, well... depends how strict you want to be on this cut. But it is definitely a GOOD tasting healthy bread, as opposed to some other healthy breads that are better (ingredients/macros-wise) but don't taste so good.
Here are the nutritionals for one slice (64g): Calories 130 Fat 1.5 (0g sat fat) Carb 24 (Fiber 6, sugar 3) Protein 5 Ingredients: Whole wheat flour, water, honey, flax seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, starter, salt and yeast. |

Personally, I think that if you are going to eat bread then stick to something with an ingredient list like this: Sprouted rye Grains (sprouted), Water. |

There's better sources of carbs than MOST storebrand bread, but if you're cutting (AKA a calorie deficit), the 'bad' ingredients won't matter as much as when bulking and already over a caloric maintenance level where ever extra calorie counts. 2 slices a day of the best storebrand bread you can find isn't going to kill you.
