Somebody have a pretty comprehensive list of negative sides of alchohol?

I live here in OK. My g/f goes to school here with me, but for now is back in Maine for the summer. I NEVER drink. AT ALL. I drank ONE DRINK, ONE TIME. I really despise alchohol, and I don't associate with really anything good at all. It generally just disgusts me, because of health, and also because I just don't feel like people should intentionally remove some degree of self control capability from themselves.

Idk, but anyway, it bothers me that my g/f drinks, cuz it is no big deal to her. And I understand that she just grew up around it and I didn't... I don't blame her. She just means alot to me and I was wondering what reasons there are for her to avoid other alchohol other than me just "not liking it".

Well usually she is just with friends of hers... not many strangers... one of her BEST FRIENDS has a kid for that very reason... no CLUE who the dad is.

What else does it do to you specificly?

Why don't you just learn to deal with it instead of trying to impression your morals upon her. Its normal for people to drink when they want to relax and enjoy themselves.

Personally - I don't drink either. This is my choice and I have my reasons for it. But I don't impose my views onto others - If they want to have a drink of alcohol every now and then it is their choice. Who am I to judge?

Do you really want to 'bug' your GF about it? Casual drinking (as long as it is in line with all the recommendations) is not going to do her harm and it can be beneficial in some regards (eg: red wine - which can decrease risk of heart disease). It is only if she starts to abuse alcohol then she is at risk.... I mean - sure, it is a drug, but so is caffine...

Anyway - some links:
Avant Labs articles are Here and here

There is also the Merck Manual - Here... Which is more about alcohol abuse.

And a somewhat complete list of things that alcohol is associated with WHEN it is drunk to EXCESS is Here.

you should just drink and maybe you'll loosin up a little bit. Dude if you don't and keep
being all like this about her she will leave you "trust me" she will. So you need to stop
being a homebody and get a few cool bones in your body. Not trying to be a dick or
anything but it's true. Ya'll are both young and in college. You should be like doing
shots off some freshman's titts right now but instead your sitting your dorm room wondering what the hell your g/f is doing right now. NOT COOL

Well thanks for the advice, but she called and said she was stopping last night anyway after one of her friends shattered both her legs in a car wreck.

She is just a girl friend, not you're wife so let her do whatever she wants. You will probably find a better woman anyway. Just enjoy you're time together, and when it's not fun to be with her anymore just dump her and move on. To get seriousty involved with a girl when you are under 25 is a mistake.
