    Fish Oil Caps dosage

    How many 1000mg fish oil caps should i take per day,i have seen some people's diet with 6 caps yet on the box it says do not exceed three per day???

    What do you all think?

    why is everyone recommending to take soo many???when the stated dose is 1/2 or even 1/4 of what everyone else recommends to take

    The recommendation on the box is for the average person, who possibly does not even exercise. We would need more.

    Note: potency of the caps can make a diff as to how many you need.

    Take 6-10. The box is wrong - it doesn't read the current research!

    Most of the studies regarding fish oils and their effect on body composition show that ~6g/day (equivalant to ~2g of EPA/DHA mix) is an effective dose in terms of modifying body composition and for helping with other things such as cholesterol and blood pressure.

    For some of the other health effects (eg: anti-inflammatory effect in some immune diseases) you need higher doses....

    But higher is not always better - as you start to get issues with things like excessive bleeding (fish oils decrease your bloods ability to clot).
