    Cooking tilapia and lentils

What seasonings taste good on tilapia? Is it better to cook it in a pan or a George Forman?

Is there a tastier way to prepare lentils? I was gonna just boil them in beef broth, but was wondering if I should add some kind of seasonings or anything else to it?

I use a small skillet with Pam to cook my fish and sprinkle steak seasoning on it.

I don't eat lentils. so no clue on that.

You will have to tweak it....it probably has some ingredients high in fat of sugar.....But I'll post one or two and you can change them if needed to fit whatever your dietary requirements are.

Okra with Green Mango and Lentils

    serves 4
    115 g...or 2/3 cup lentils
    3 tbsp olive oil
    1/2 tsp onion seeds
    2 medium onions, sliced
    1/2 tsp ground fenugreek
    1 tsp ginger pulp
    1 tsp garlic pulp
    1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
    1/4 tsp turmeric
    1 tsp ground coriander
1 green ( unripe) mango, peeled and sliced...I use summer squash rather then the mango.
450 g okra, cut into 1 cm pieces
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    2 fresh red chillies, sliced
    2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
    1 tomato, sliced

1 Wash the lentils thourally and put in a saucepan with enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil and cook until soft but not mushy. Drain and set to one side.
2 Heat the oil in a deep round-bottomed frying pan ( skillet) and fry the onion seeds until they begin to pop. Add the onions and fry until golden brown. Lower the heat and add the ground fenugreek, ginger, garlic, chilli powder, turmeric, and ground coriander.
3 Throw in the mango slices and the okra. Stir well and add the salt, red chillies and fresh cilantro. Stir-fry for about 3 min or until the okra is well cooked.
4 Finally, add the cooked lentils and sliced tomato and cook for a further 3 min. Serve hot

I cook lentils in the microwave, in chicken broth with lots of garlic powder and some season salt. Really yummy.

And the one time I cooked tilapia, I baked it in the oven with garlic and lemon pepper. It was ok, I'm just not a fish eater.

    I'll break this down
    One Fillet...

Coat with thin layer of olive oil

(distrubute to both sides of fish)...
    1 tbsp fresh cilantro
    2 tspn sea salt
    1 tspn splenda (or sugar)
    1 tbsp course black pepper
    1 tspn cayenne pepper

Place one 1/2 slice fresh orange + one slice fresh lime
    on each side of fillet

    Wrap in foil,

    Broil 20-25min flipping every 8

If you have a foreman grill,
forget the foil and place directly on grill (no flipping)

Lentils are YUMMY! They are cooked in a zillion ways in India. I dont know of any cookbook to suggest, but as Foreman suggested, if you follow the recipie you can do some yummy dishes. I'm sure if you google around you will find plenty of sites with recipies.

Just remember to always cook them seperate in plain water and do the seasonings seperately and add them in after the lentils are done. They do have an unfortunate side effect (they cause Gas). Soak them in warm water overnight (changing the water a few times) will reduce the gassy effect.

I am latino and i cook sometimes...Lentils are hard to cook and it can take hours..I usually boil them in water or sometype of broth....What i learned is if you soak them in water (that is a pan filled with water and lentils) the night before, they will cook faster.....I eaten green and brown lentils
For Tilapia, i cook and simmer them in olive oil...Simple as that, you season them, use garlic and sprinkle lemon juice and chopped cilantro to add a citrus flavor....

Tilapia, I don't bother cooking it. I wash it and then feed it to the Dogs.

    Balti Chicken with Lentils
    Serves 4-6 ( 6 humans, 4 body builders)
    Ingredients
    75g lentils
    4 tbsp olive oil
    2 medium leeks, chopped
    6 large dried red chillies
    4 curry leaves
    1 tsp mustard seeds
    2 tsp mango powder
    2 medium tomato's, chopped
    1/2 tsp chilli powder ( I use 1 tsp)
    1 tsp ground coriander
    1 tsp salt
1 lb chicken ( I use 1 1/2-2 Lbs) , skinned, de boned and cubed...it's more authentic if you tear the chicken, most Indian restraints don't cut this meat.
    1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro

    1. Wash the lentils throughly.
    2. Put the lentils into a saucepan with enough water to caver, and boil for about 10 min until they are soft but not mushy. Drain and set aside in a bowl.
    3. Heat the oil in a wok. Lower the heat slightly and throw in the leeks, dried red chillies, curry leaves and mustard seeds. Stir-fry gently for a few minutes.
    4. Add the mango powder, tomato's, chilli powder, ground coriander, salt and chicken, and stir-fry for 7-10 min.
    5. Mix in the cooked lentils and fry for a further 2 min, or until you are sure that the chicken is cooked right through.
    6. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
