2 lbs a week too much?

I am currently bulking and this past week I gained 1.96 pounds. I have been shooting for around .8-1.4 lbs. per week in order to keep fat gain down to a minimum. If I gained two pounds this week and want to cut that down to around 1 or so a week how much should I reduce my calories daily? This week that I gained 2 lbs I was eating 3025 calories a day.

I wouldn't drop down your cals. yet. Since you just started bulking, in which I'm sure you've added a good bit of carbs, it's prolly a good bit of water weight, since carbs. make you retain water. I would let it go for another week or so and see what happens.

And what supplements are you taking? If you just started on creatine, the added weight could be attributed to water weight from creatine.

2 pounds a week is a bit much, but if you have only just started then it is too soon to tell - it may just be water weight associated with the increased carb/calories.

Wait for at least 2 weeks (2-3 weeks is good) and give the diet a chance. If you are still gaining 2 pounds/week then decrease cals. 5-10% would be sufficient to see if this slows weight gain (so that means 150-300 cals - maybe aim for ~200-250 for a happy medium)...

Ok....now I'm confused. I had made the post about gaining 2 lbs in a week yesterday. Yesterday morning when I weighed myself I had gone from 166.8 to 168.7 in a week so I was concerned about gaining two pounds in a week. Well, this morning I weighed myself again at the same time as the previous day and under the same conditions, and now I weigh the same I weighed the previous week....166.8. Now I don't know what the hell to do. Should I now increase my calories or check my weight again tomorrow before I decide anything. Again, like I said I was eating 3025 calories a day.

Firstly - Don't weigh yourself everyday. It is pointless. Water/glycogen/bulk in your gut etc etc can all vary in a given 24 hr period. It is the general TREND that you need to observe - and that happens over time.

Secondly - As I said before, give it another week and check your weight then. That will make 2 weeks on the diet and it will be more representative of the effects it is having. Then think about whether or not you need to alter your calories.
