    bulking vs cutting

ive read on here that u can't bulk and cut at the same time soooooooooo....

is it better to bulk and then cut ... or to cut then bulk...

i would think bulk then cut due to the fact that bigger muscles burn calories faster???

am i on the right path???

if you are carrying a high amount of BF then bulking up is going to just make you fatter. It is better to get your BF in check and then bulk up. If you never worked out and dieted before or are coming back from a lay off (basically if you are a newbie) chances are pretty good that as you slash the fat you will put on some muscle and be a leaner more healthier person all together.

Theres no magical number that tells you that you are ready for bulking or cutting. Use the mirror as your judge and don't dwell on all the little facts too much. Get yourself on a good routine, and eat very clean if you need to lose some body fat.

Diet is the most important thing, followed by training. Once you have those in check, look into some supplements.

is dieting and taking protein counter-productive?

heres what i do ... i am eating clean (watching calories and carbs) but i will have a double scoop of protein in a small smoothy PostWO... 1ce a day 5-6 days a week

i alternate 1day resistance training 1 day cardio for 5-6 days.. (rest on sunday... sometimes saturday)

and yes im a bit overweight...

No, protein shakes are for balancing your diet, and is good especially for post workout shakes. Protein supplements for only gaining weight is a big misconception among the norm.

If you consider yourself overweight, you would want to cut first, then bulk, as it was already said, having more fat on you before bulking will promote more fat gain than having less. Plus you would have to consume more calories to bulk than if you were to cut weight first.

Dieting and taking protein is good... Protein shakes usually have relatively few carbs, low calories, and little to no fat.

no, more muscle will help your metabolism out big time. But, a lot of fat from the start does shit for your test levels and helps to raise your estrogen levels. Bulk up and add more fat (because you wil always add some) and you are really going to be out of wack.
