The point of HIIT is to burn more calories and raise your metabolism. But you should eat just like any other workout. Both before and immedietly after.
My goals are to shed between 5-10lbs of bodyfat within about a month to a month and a half. My daily calorie deficit will be about 500 cals. The ratio of protein/carb/fat calories that I'll be consuming is 40/30/30. That amounts to less than 1g of carbs per pound of bodyweight per day, for me.
I'll be eating 5-6 meals per day, consuming most of my carbs in the earlier meals. My last meal will just be a lean protien dish of some kind. I'm sticking to low GI/GL carbs throughout the entire day, except for PWO. Also, I plan to have a refeed day every now and then, but I'm not sure as to the intervals that I should have them in, so I'll have to experiment while I'm cutting. And of course, I'll be drinking plenty of water.
As far as exercise goes, I'll be weight lifting three times a week (not including ab days, which I don't count because they tend to take less time then normal workouts), doing HIIT in the morning on my off days, and jogging on random days (whenever I feel like it, basically).
So do you guys think it's a solid plan?
Oh yeah, I have a couple of other questions...
1. I've been reading up on HIIT, and it seems like half of the articles say that I should do it on an empty stomach, and the other half say that I shouldn't. Is it a good idea to do HIIT before eating anything?
2. Should I have a PWO shake after HIIT? All I would be putting in it would be whey powder and orange juice.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info. I'll make sure I eat before I do HIIT. But since HIIT won't last all that long (certainly not as long as any weight lifting session or jogging), how much should I eat beforehand? And should the food be fast-absorbing so that I can burn it away as soon as I start?
Just a protein shake and maybe a piece of fruit would be fine before HIIT but I agree, eat before hand and after.
