    Too much.

Alright, I want a nice body. Who the hell doesn't? But who's got time to plan out all these meals, and spend so much money on food. Im 20 years old and I've got more important things to worry about. I dont mind eating healthy, I just cant follow those WICKED strict cutting plans.

I eat healthier then anyone I know, I eat every 2 hours, smaller meals, I get in a mixed amount of carbs, protein, and fat in each meal. Do I really have to go through all the trouble of not drinking milk, eating chicken twice a freakin day, and making sure I have the exact quantities to get ripped?

I just want lower bodyfat, without all the planning. I cant plan my day around eating anymore, it's affecting everything I do. I drink alot of water, I eat Instant Oats instead of Old Fashioned, does it really make a huge difference?

Tell me theres a light at the end of the tunnel, I'm not a slacker, I'm really following a nice diet. I take in about 3000 calories a day, or try to, I just dont follow the extremelly healthy, and time consuming life style I guess all these people with hardcore bodys follow.

So, if I continue to eat healthy, but not eat *HARDCORE TO THE PLAN* - I'll still be better off, or am I just wasting my time?

Its hard when you are first starting off but once you get into a good eating habbit and workout routine you start getting use to it. Protein shakes are a good way to go if u dont have too much time to spare, just stick to what you are doing now and see if you get results after 2 weeks or something, if you dont lose any fat then you'll know if u need to change ur diet and/or workout routine

it all depends on how far you want to take this thing. you can surely get to 10% bf +/- with a great diet with out counting cals etc. all the time. now going down to 5-7% is a different story

I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

If you don't plan on being in bodybuilding competitions and just want to look good then you don't have to take it to the extremes as those in competition. Like Lam pointed out, just following a decent diet you can look great.

Toughenuff is right. Once you have a plan you will not have to be thinking about your next meal all the time.

I agree with Randy. My wife gained damn near 80 pounds while pregnant with our first son, who was 10+ pounds (delivered natrally!) and she has become obsessed with her diet. She fluctuates between South Beach, Weight Watchers, and the Zone, which drives me absolutely crazy. I, however, want to have an impressive physique, but not anything like a pro, competitive bodybuilder. I do not have the dietarty discipline that she, or many of you have, but I am conscious about saturate fats, and the type of carbs and quality of proteins that I put in my body. I am almost 285 lbs, and it takes a LOT of food to keep me satisfied, fueled, and energized. It gets expensive, and my son, like his father, is an eating machine. Planning a diet, especially the diets of a family, is maddening, but worth it.

    Legion,

The important thing is that you and your family are happy and healthy. One thing you have over many is that at least you recognize the importance of eating healthy. I am one like you who has never had the discipline to eat like a bodybuilder. I am trying, but having family from West Virginia and growing up being a major meat and potato man, I find it very difficult. My goal is not to be a competition body builder, but to just improve my physique and maintain a healthy body.

Well put. I admire those who can weight their chicken and count each calorie, but I am more powerlifter than bodybuilder (in the competitive sense) and focus more on energy levels and protein intake than cutting and definition. (LAZINESS??? ) I'm beating a dead horse. I train like an animal, and I suppose I then have to eat like one.

I hear that. I do not drink more than once or twice a year, but i work day and night jobs, and, unfortunately, after injury, i lost a great deal of the dietary discipline that i had when i was in tip top shape. too many fast food joints by me, too little time in the kitchen.

Don't you wish the fast food didn't taste as good as it does? If it didn't, it would make it so much easier to pass it on by.

Fast food, all that saturated fat... disgusting.

I wont touch that, I eat healthy, I'm just not into the whole completely strict dieting.

Some of it nowadays is actually not to bad healthwise. They are all trying to add more healthy things to their menus after the obesity publicity that's being spotlighted.

tanny, i agree, but come on. McDonald's breakfast.... gotta admit, despite the artery clogging nastiness, its good eats. not that i condone that sort of behavior.

Dayammmm Legion... I would have to disagree with you on the breakfasts. They have to be the worst. Everytime I've ever eaten a mcdonalds breakfast I've had a stomach ache that lasted all day.

If I'm going to eat a breakfast it is going to be my own specialty of
bacon, eggs, and fried potatoes ..... mmmmmmm mmmmmmm good
And sometimes biscuits/gravy and pork chops ...

I cant even stand the taste of it. I cook my own food now, and thats the only way I'll have it. Dont like other people putting crap in my food just to make it taste better.. I'd be completely content with taking Whey + Water all day if I could. =p

These days I keep it pretty simple. I eat my 1.5-2g/lb protein everyday and just pick other sensible/healthy stuff to eat with it. Cutting I eat a bit less and move my ass around a lot more.

I never plan my meals anymore relying on my appetite as a good mental guide re: when I need to eat. If I want to go out and eat whatever, I do. In the longrun, things like that aren't going to make a huge difference. It is what you manage to do consistently day in day out that will show longer term results. Its a minimal stress approach to bodybuilding.

It really becomes a habit. I don't have to plan my meals anymore because I know what they'll be. I have pre-cooked protein sources in the freezer, veggies in the fridge, it all works out really well. To me it's worth every bit of it, I love seeing my body change

I agree Jenny, that is the ultimate motivation being able to see your body change.

Oh, and before you jokers comment... I meant seeing our own body's change, not that I meant seeing Jenny's body change ). Although that wouldn't be to bad either, but that is eggs department and I won't cross that line

I need some help with nutrician, but am trying the best I can to change my habits for the better. That's a kewl idea having everything ready to go in the freezer. For me though, I never liked left over meals much. I will usually put them in the fridge and later have to end up tossing them.

Canned tuna, hard boiled eggs, grilla few meals worth of chicken breast at once and leave them in the fridge. Cook multiple meals at once so there ready to go. All it takes is a week or two to make it routine.

That's true, that is one food I can deal with as a left over food is chicken. It even tastes good cold. As for eggs and tuna, they are both part of my diet.
