Can whey protein be part of a meal?

I had my lunch today as this just to change it up, since I have soo much whey powder, I got 2 10lb bags...I wanted to use some off on my off day.

    I had:

    1 FF Yogurt (90 cal, 12g carb, 9g protein)
    1/3 cup oats(100 cal, 18g carb)
    1 scoop ON whey(110 cal, 23g protein)
and 1/4 cup almonds (15g fat)

Is this a good meal, to keep me ANABOLIC for the next 3 hours? It seems perfect to me...But I always thought Whey protein is only in the bloodstream for 1 hour, so whats happening for the next 2 hours after?

This meal is fine... (but it's adequacy for you will depend on your requirements).

And yes, you can use whey as part of meals.

Yes whey protein is only in the blood for a short amount of time - but you have added fats to this meal - so what is going to happen is that gastric emptying will be slowed down - which means the contents of the meal is going to leave the stomach slowly over time. So this means the whey will reach your intestines slowly and will be absorbed in 'bits' - which will 'trickle' the amino acids into your blood over a few hours.

Also, there is going to be some casein protein from the yoghurt and some other proteins from your oats and almonds that will be absorbed more slowly too.

Plus, the body will not immediately switch from 'anabolic' to 'catabolic' in a matter of seconds exactly the moment all the amino acids of they whey are removed from the blood.... There are lots of physiological things that are occuring that will alter your response to a meal and your general anabolic potential.

lol, i have always thought that to myself. I've always wondered what it would have been like if i had a woman like emma, or if my mom had emma's brains about diet and nutrition so she could tell me what to eat and cook food. I'd probably be in heaven.
