wow, what a tremendous conclusion! Are you a detective? Because 2 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large dish isn't going to make a difference, especially since this meal likely isn't consumed daily.

marmite is a vegetable/ yeast extract, it is quite salty, but is watered down with the gravy etc. I don't have it every day but am fed up with chicken breasts and white ( can't stomach brown) rice.

    Any ideas?

Several things you can do to spice up the chicken.

e.g. I threw this together last week.
    900g chicken breast. diced.
    1/2 TBSP mustard seeds
    1 tsp fennel seeds
2 tsp chilli(cayenne pepper) flakes. more or less as desired.
    2tbsp olive oil.
1medium onion. finely chopped or sliced.
    1tsp bottled ginger paste
    1tsp bottled garlic paste
    1tbsp lemon juice

Heat oil until hot but not smoking. Throw in mustard seeds. The should pop and crackle in a few secs. throw in fennel seeds and chilli for a couple of secs. Add onions and sautee until they pick up a few brown flecks. Add ginger and garlic and sautee for a min. Add chicken and stir fry for 10-12 mins or until cooked. Add lemon juice. turn heat up and stir fry until all liquid dries (a couple of mins) or until as desired. Add salt to taste (3/4 tsp works for me in this recipie)

You could also get bottled Tandoori spice paste and marinate the chicken. And grill or broil them.

Brown rice does take some getting used to. You could make a tasty dish with red lentils (lentils are a good addition to your diet) to have with the rice. Search the forum. There are a couple of threads discussing this.
