Losing weight and toning (need suggestions)

I'm 17 years old(male), 5'9" and 145 lbs. Currently, I'm not happy at all with my physique. There's too much fat covering my muscles, and I've been trying to reduce it for some time now. I've obviously been doing things wrong, and that's why I need help.

I've been consuming about 1500-1700 calories per day(I have no idea if that's good or bad), and I do weight training Mon, Tue, and Fri. On the other days I run and do cardio. I've been doing this for about 2 months now, and I lost 10 lbs, but I can't really see much of a change.

I drink a gallon of water per day, and I just eat stuff that's convenient around the house. So, I really need some advice about what I should start doing, and how I should start eating.

    Things I've been eating:

I've been cutting out junk-food as much as possible. I haven't been eating candy bars or sugary foods. Mostly I eat what's around the house, which isn't much of a variety, so I eat canned Tuna, Peanut butter and banana sandwiches, milk and oatmeal bars, strawberry/rasberry yogurt, and other stuff.

I could go get some other kind of foods, if necessary.

Also, I don't know if this is important or not, but up until the 8th grade(age 13), I was very overweight(180 lbs). Then I lost weight until I was 125 lbs. Mostly through starvation at first, then I started eating more. Then as I entered my 10th grade year of high school, I gained back up to 160 lbs and stayed at that weight until 11th grade. And over the past summer I lost down to 145, and that's where I am now.

Mostly, I just need a recommendation on what/how I should be eating. The amount of calories I should intake (for fat loss), and how much/long I should exercise.

Actually, if you were overweight before then you need to adjus your intake as well as the foods you are eating. 1700 still seems low but its not that bad if you are prone to gaining weight. The better you eat the better results you will have.

Ok I'm female but I would reccommend trying to up the calories a bit shake up your workouts If you have been doing the same thing for sometime try diffrent things like high weights low reps and then maybe you can try parymiding. Also try hiit cardio as well in the morning on a empty stomach. You might want to try carb cycling (2 low carb 20 -30 grams days followed by closer to 100 1 high carb day) any way keep you diet clean, Keep out prossed food as much as you can, and make sure you are getting plenty of good fat think olives natural peanut butter almonds and such
    Good luck, Tanya
