Sure, if you want to eat it then eat it. Rye is pretty low in GI, the sunflower seeds have a decent amount of healthy fats in them, there are not icky trans-fats or nasty ingredients added and there is a little fibre in each slice too...

So, if added in to a healthy diet, it is certainly not going to do you any harm. And it would be good if you were having trouble putting on weight and if you needed something easy to grab...

But would I eat it?? - No.

It is not the best choice, neither in as a carb source nor as a bread.

In terms of carbs, there are those that are much higher in fibre, much lower in GI/II and much more nutritious in terms of vitamins, minerals, water content, phytonutrients etc etc..

In terms of a bread - you still have wheat flour as the first ingredient.. and this is basically nothing but empty carbs. Then rye flour is the next ingredient - and this is just a processed carb too... And then it is a bread that is traditionally baked, which will destroy a lot of any of the remaining natural nutrients in the grains and some of those in the sunflower seeds...

As I have said before, if you want a bread then you would be much better off looking for essene bread (best option) or sprouted bread (still great) or a whole-grain pumpernickel (third - but still a good choice too).

If you are willing to go for other carb sources, then I would choose legumes (lentils, beans), whole grains (barley, rye), taro/Asian yam or brown rice over this every time.... I would probably also consider having an apple, some berries or banana as an alternative too.

But, then again, I am overly anal about some of these things! So, going back to my first paragraph... Eat it if you want - just make sure it is factored into your daily requirements and you will be fine!

Thanks Emma. I thought that bread looked better than the usual breads. I have bread as it is easy to eat the tuna with. I simply toast the bread and throw on a layer of tuna and CC. But i shall swap with Brown Rice instead. If that combo dosent work, then i shall have to make a trip to the health food store for the other ones you suggested.
