    hey everyone

i was wondering if any of you could give me some advice. i am 15 yrs old and play a lot of tennis. im like 5' 5" and weight about 105 lbs, my nutritionist told me i had to gain about 8 lbs of muscle in 3 months, and lose fat. i already go to the gym and i am trying to follow the "low fat" diet she gave me, but for some reason i dont think ive been getting any results. its been like 4 weeks and i havent gained a pound... any ideas??

You are 15, 105 pounds and your nutritionist has you losing because you are 'fat'?

Firstly - you are underweight. Focus on gaining the 8 pounds and, provided most of it is lean tissue, your BF% will go down.

Secondly - At 15 yrs you do not need to be 'dieting' at all. You need to focus on eating a healthy variety of foods that will give you all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that your growing body requires.

Thirdly - You Especially don't need to follow a 'low fat diet'! Low fat diets DO NOT work! This type of thinking is following all those modern day myths of nutrition. Fats are REQUIRED for health!

Jodie's thread "A guide to..." is an excellent place to start for nutrition information. I have also written some information here to some other people who were looking to start out.
