    Too much tuna?

    For the past couple month's I have been doing 2 cans of Chunk Light Tuna a day. So about 10oz/day.

    Should I stop and change my protein staple protein source, or stay with the tuna? I read all these different articles on mercury and I'm puzzled what to do. Anyone here have any long term experience with eating alot of tuna? I dont understand if it was such a big deal, wouldnt they have to say something on the labeling?

    Someone please give me some insight. The reason I like tuna is because I dont mind the taste and it's very very convientient let alone cheap.

    nothing wrong with the amount of tuna you have. You worry too much.

    Vary your meat source - not good to stick to one protein source.

    Chicken, beef, lamb, turkey, different types of fish, steak. This should all be in your diet.



    Eat lots, train enough and rest up. It is as simple as that.

    I don't think there's anything especially wrong with it as long as you get some kind of variety in your protein sources. The mercury factor is definitely something to consider, but the tainting of our seafood is a fairly recent epidemic. Who knows what the result will be in the long run.
    The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

    Ya I also have cottage cheese, eggs, whey, and grilled chicken.

    CowPimp - I'm not sure if your tuna is different to ours, but unless your a woman of childbearing age, the mercury content is not of a concern.

    10 oz should not be too much of a concern (as it was said, it is usually only a problem when you are talking about females of child-bearing age).

    Some would say it would be excessive - but as of yet there is very little in terms of long term research into high tuna intake and mercury toxicity.

    If you are worried then you could cut it down (say, to 5 oz a day) and replace the other 5 oz with another lean protein source.

    Supplementing with chlorella can help in getting rid of metals such as mercury, 6g a day is the usual dose.
    The guys at NASA use this.

    The tuna should be the regular light tuna not the white one.
