    Crtitique my foods

Dont worry about my macros. Just in a general healthy, muscle and metabolism promoting sense, how am i doing?

    6 meals

3 of them shakes (40 grams of whey, 1 cup of old fashioned 100% oats, 1 cup of lowfat, low sugar yogurt.

    3 "regular" meals

    1. Can of tuna in water mixed with light mayo and pickles, Apple and maybe another very small piece of fruit usually blue or rasberries

    2. 8 white and 2 whole scrambled eggs, some veggies, a serving or two of the slow cooked (30 min) brown rice that comes in those tube bags

    3. Sliced turkey breast from the deli on two pieces of 100% whole wheat bread, a serving of veggies or a small piece of fruit

    Thanks!

Would you say "too much" if I just consumed them whole food style? Theres no difference. Do you mean, too much whey protein?

It's up to you, man. I think you would be better off cuttin' back on the whey and getting protein from real foods. Chicken, fish, turkey, egg whites. I think you, also, need some more healthy fats like nuts, avocado, peanut butter. Maybe Emma can help you out - she's great. If she replies to your post, listen to her - she knows her stuff.

personally i cannot imagine consuming that many eggs in one day, let alone that many meals, but my goals are different than yours. im no expert, but seems fine to me. personally i would cut a shake and make a small meal such as a chicken salad. I like stew. its that really thick soup. tastes awesome and fills me up for a while. never read the label though but i will.

What are your goals? Are you bulking, or cutting, or neither? These are important questions if you want a better response.

First off, I agree with getting more "real" food. From a "muscle promoting, nutritional" perspective, they just are not that good for you. A well balanced meal is much healthier. Not only are shakes not great, but if you are having 3 of the same shake per day, you aren't getting very much variation in your diet. I understand changing this aspect may be a pain, but that is the biggest problem from my perspective.

Second, I agree with getting more healthy fats. If you can figure out a way to get more healthy fats into your meals, I think it would benefit you in a few ways.

Next, your meals look awfully small, especially meal number one, and your shake "meals". Everybody's different, so that may be enough for you, but I eat a lot more than that, even when I'm cutting. Your meals look small, and are low in fat so they probably don't fill you up for very long. This could be a reason why you tend to try to find foods to "indulge in if theyre laying around."

I also would add some vegetables to one more meal, but that's not really a big deal.

All in all, you eat pretty healthy. If you provide a little more information about yourself, maybe I can offer some better, more specific advice.

I think I have to agree with others. I like whey, because I am in bad shape and I want results fast, but I need more time to plan stuff out. I have only been seriously working out for about a week now. Whey protein should be a part of your diet, but not to the point where you use it as a substitute for food. Whey gives you protein, but as far as I know if does not give you energy to burn. Before you work out have a small shake maybe 20 grams 30 minutes before you start working out. Then as soon as you get done you can have a big shake. Personally I do one serving of whey a day. 2 scoops (21g each) mixed with 2 cups of milk (9 grams each) and a teaspoon of sugar in the whole mix. thats 55+ grams. The rest I try to consume from actual meals. Eat sometihng before working out so you have energy to burn. Otherwise you will be tired. Dont do a big meal though, because you will be tired as well. A few pieces of fruit, a sandwich, maybe even a small portion of chicken breast. Then cover it with some whey, and I guarantee you you will have a good intake of everything, and will have more energy, and keep your protein levels where they should be. From what you are saying now, it seems to me that you are getting too much protein. Just out of interest. How much protein is in an egg white? Maybe I can mix a white into my post-workout shake, and boost it a little.

    Thanks fellas

I dont really want help with macros relative to cutting or bulking. That much I know I can figure out for myself. I just want to be sure that Im eating the right stuff.

An average egg white has 3.5 grams of protein, for whoever asked.

Ill work on replacing the shakes but I still plan on using oats for part of the carb portion for three of my meals. This cant be too bad a thing. Right? Ill just try to get more whole food sources of protein. I dont eat red meat though. And maybe when I do have a shake Ill put add some extra virgin olive oil do get some of those fats.

personally if i eat more than 2 eggs a day i get dandruff
and if you are going to eat that many eggs just to get 2.5 grams from each it isnt worth it. why dont you cut it to 2 egg whites, keep the 3 shakes, and replace the other egg whites with something else. im no expert ive just been doing this for a week now
but im sure that you will make more of your diet nad excersize by reading here

    njc:
sounds like you got the right idea. and oats are really good for you, its the whey that isnt so great. olive oil is good too. you oughta try safflower oil, its great for you (i think better than olive oil?) and tastes yummy too. but olive oil is fine too. i really like sweet potatoes as a carb source when im cutting too, because you can eat a lot and it's not that many calories. they have crazy amounts of fiber too.

    buddy:
yeah, i've heard of a lot of people getting weird reactions from too many eggs. my dad's girlfriend says she gets depressed when she eats eggs. never heard of dandruff from eating eggs, but that doesnt seem that farfetched. i can eat 8 eggs a day and get no weird reactions, except sometimes they make my stomach feel funny for a little while after i eat them. oh well, to each his own.
