I always take protein after a workout, but im already a somewhat bulky physique, but will the protein make me even more bulky or wide? I also sometimes drink it after conditioning soccer practices which we run for about half an hour at a high intensity.

Whey does not 'make you wide'. Excess calories + inactivity 'makes you wide'. Eat less, do more ---> You'll get less wide as a result.
