    Alcohol and weight loss question

I got out drinking on some weekends and im trying to loose weight also..

My question is 1 bottle of Bud light has 110 calories and 6.6 grams of carbs..
1 stoli raz and sprite has 240 calories and 0 grams of carbs..

Which is better to drink when trying to loose weight?
I workout 3 times a week on the Eliptical and also light weights..

I don't know what a 'stoli raz' is, but if the choices are beer or soda the answer is obvious: water.

The problem with drinking isnt just the cals. Alcohol hinders fat burning and protein synthesis. I would drink whatever you like but keep it to a minimum. Everytime I drink, I am aware that its going to interfere with how quickly I progress in fitness.
But when you disarm them, you at once offend them by showing that you distrust them, either for cowardice or for want of loyalty, and either of these opinions breeds hatred against you.

Diet has been the most difficult part of my wight training, so I'm by no means the go-to-guy on nutrition. But taking it slow has worked for me better than cold turkey. Go with the soda. Then transition to diet (find one with Splenda). Then you can migrate to water (I still drink diet soda too). That's how I did it.

If you want it bad enough youll have to sacrifice some things. I want it bad enough, so I am doing whatever I need to be successful. If you want it, then giving up stuff shouldnt be that hard.

Basically my question was whats better when trying to loose weight.. Vodka or beer, and I think thats been answered..

I know I have to give up alot to meet my goals.. This is comming from a person who used to drink 5-10 beers 3-4 nights a week and ate all the baddest of the bad foods all the time and never excersised.. That was 6 weeks ago..

Being that I only drink 2 times a month and workout 3-4 nights a week, eat healthier and am more active I think I have done alot and am very much seeing the results of it.. I know everyone started somewhere and I was trying to see what the lesser of the two evils was..

I dont think you should concentrate on eating/dieting/losing weight, you should get yourself to some AA meetings.

If you have to drink, take the liquor, less calories after all.

5-10 beers for 3-4 nights a week? That could be a maximum of 40 beers a week. I think thats a bit much. However, it could be a minimum of 15.

(I was just kidding though, hence the smilie)

Agreed.. Where as I was maxing at 40 beers a week I am down to like 10 or so vodka + waters a month.. Much better this way..

Didnt see the smile on there, sorry.. My end all goal is to stop drinking alltogether and/or only on very rare occasions but either way its better than before and im sure ill loose even more weight doing this.. from 251 to 236 in 5 weeks seems good to me so far..

Why does it take time? Just don't do it. Simple as that. See no time taken. If you are truly serious that is.

Im sure there are people that can do that, I cant.. I am very serious about this but mentally it takes time for me.. I look at where I am and what I can do to make things better but the past is still there..

    What a bunch of crap.

You can. People do it everyday. People just like you. Stop making excuses. You CAN... You don't want to.

If you are seriously saying you can't, then you must have a deep physical addiction and I suggest you check yourself into a rehab clinic as soon as possible.

It's the same thing as a food craving and cheating on diets... people do it because they want to.

Try to keep it to weekends. The hardest thing for me is the social aspect of it. All my friends drink and when I go out I cant just drink water all the time and soft drink is worse than a couple of light beers anyway.

I drink only light beer and never any strong liquor. people think that it's the calories that makes you fat but it is the alcohol. Alcohol is a toxin and it is erraticated by the body through metabolisation. The body turns it into acitate and burns it for energy. Therefore anything you eat (Usually fatty foods like chips, nuts and pizza) goes staight to your gut and you don't start to burn fat again until all the acitate is used up.

If you are serious about your goals than it is a matter of priorities and also realising that you don't need alcohol to have fun.

I did it. You can check out my journal that talks about some. You'll feel alot better physically and about yourself. If your friends can't accept you socially, then get new friends.

Take it one step at a time. Don't completely stop drinking pop or beer, just drink less and less each time. I've already stopped drinking regular pop and went to diet. That helps.

I'd say is better than doing nothing since you are gonna drink, go with vodka, water, lemon. and lots of cardio.

along with the above information alcohol also lowers test levels, GH and IGF-1 levels...there is nothing good about regular alchol consumption
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Yo don't stomp all over him. If he wants to ease out let him ease out. This seems like a habit and most habits need to be broken over time. I'm just getting back into the whole training thing and im certainly not just going to up and drop all the activities i used to have, start training intensely and up my diet from 1500 cals to 4000 cals in one day.

    This isn't a flame i just think you're being a tad harsh.
