The Glycemic Index

BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS
High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com
The Glycemic index of foods ranks foods based on the way they affect blood sugar.

Low GI foods (55) produce a gradual rise in blood sugar that is easy on the body.

Intermediate GI foods (55-70).

High GI foods (70+) cause blood sugar and insulin levels to spike.

Avoiding the blood sugar spike by consuming low GI foods may:

Stave off heart disease
Prevent Type II Diabetes
Curb your appetite
Prevent serious side effects of diabetes
Increase your energy level

**Certain high GI foods should not be avoided, such as carrots, watermelon, bran flakes, Cheerios, Total, rice cakes, baked potato, and parsnips. These foods are low-calorie and very nutritious.

* Certain low GI foods should be consumed in moderation, such as chocolate and low-fat ice cream. These foods are low in nutrition and high in empty calories.

hey w8.. I was talkioing to a diabetic person and he said his doctor told him to use honey when sweetening items. But on the GI index its in the middle category, so is it okay to use, because i've been using it to sweeten my foods?

Don;t take the GI too seriously tho, just use it as a guide.

Too many factors affect it.
