Pork Ribs

Tonight I ate pork ribs for dinner as the meat and protein source of my meal, and was wondering how bad these are for you. I searched and found a thread from a while back where people seemed to come to the conclusion that they were pretty bad.

I don't really understand it that much though. When I eat regular pork, it's very lean. Why would ribs be any different?

A good rule of thumb is that the farther you get away from the hoof and horn on an animal, the less lean it will be. The muscle tissue on the ribs is required to do virtually no work on the pig, thus being fatty. This is also why your better cuts of meat are more pricey, because they are more marbled with fat and connective tissue. Thus, being jucier and easier to prepare without drying it out and making it tough.

That makes sense. Tonight I was picking some of the fatty pieces off, but for the most part I was getting good chunks of ribs.
