1st post....had to tell this story.

I was browsing through this website when I stumbled across the thread by the history teacher who had the question about eating in front of his class....anyway, I am also a teacher who is into nutrition and exercise....I normally will mix whey/water before class and pour it into my coffee mug (Even though I don't drink coffee) to make it as inconspicuous as possible. However, on one particular occasion I was out of whey and brought a couple of cans of tuna fish to school as a substitute. My students were taking a test and I decided that it was a good time to eat a can of tuna. I sat at my desk and opened the can where no one could see....as soon as I finished opening one of the cans my principal walks in the door and sits in the back of the room....I kind of panic and accidentally drop the can onto the floor....it wasn't so bad beacuse I have a huge desk and no one could see it...so I stand up and walk over to him and ask if he needs something in particular....he proceeds to tell me that he came in to observe my class (standard procedure)...I continue to walk around the room for a few minutes and then go back to my desk.....by this time I could smell the tuna, but I was praying that he couldn't....right about that time a student in the front row says, " Yuck! What is that smell!" I'm like, "What smell?" The principal gets up and walks right up my desk and says, "Sorry, I've got to go to the consumer science department about cooking fish....it makes the whole school stink!" Anyway, I made it through the class and got it cleaned up. I make sure I have plenty of whey in stock these days.

Great dedication. You gotta do what you gotta do to eat healthy in this 9-5, 1 x 30 minute lunch break world. Good story.

    Thanks

Thanks....fellas....my time is limited, but I'll stop by from time to time....Also, I'm well aware of the "mercury" dilemma....but quite frankly tuna is easy, effective and I've never heard of anyone dying from eating tuna fish....well, unless they choke on it.

Hey Welcome, to the forum! I still eat in front of my kids but I don't hide it anymore. I just explain to them why I have to eat all the time! They seem to be alright with it!

    The boss......

Our head man is a bit of a disciplinarian....our kids aren't allowed to eat so he expects us to follow the same rules....kind of goofy really....I'm supposed to teach these kids to eat healthy, but most of them have like 5 hours in between breakfast and lunch...we all no the repercussions of that. Especially for our athletes.

Ours is somewhat, he is more anal than anything. Plus he is a little guy that gets intimidated when a bigger person talks to him. He is really sheepish when talking to a coach, he won't even look us in the eye.

Yeah, I had a boss that did something like that before too. I was a regular at the gym for years and he decided to come in one day after work and give me advice on how to lift properly and get the best results during his workout. I started to explain to him the complexity of my routine, cycles, and diet to shut him up. Kind of pissed me off. The only workout he used to do was 1/4 pounder curls. He never worked out and it showed. We used to call him StayPuff Man. I never saw him in the gym again.
