white basmati riceOriginally Posted by Jodi
Either/or - it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things for most individuals... especially when combined with some protein, fat and fibre....
Although the brown rice will offer you a little more fibre and it is (in my opinion anyway) tastier!![]()

cool, think ill stick with the white basmati.
well, I think you should make your decision based on your goals. If you are maintaining or bulking then you should be fine with the white basmati. However, IMO, if you are cutting you would be much better off with brown basamati.

whys that? if you dont mind me askingOriginally Posted by Jodi
Brown rice, per cup, will have slightly more fibre (4g per cup v's 1g per cup), slightly more protein (5g per cup v's 4g per cup), slightly more healthy fats (1.8g v's 0.5g), slightly less digestable carbs/slightly higher thermogenic effect, slightly higher water content, slightly lower GI and a slightly higher satiety rating...Originally Posted by pengers84

damn, that was very interesting, who knew there was that much difference between rice. cool shit emma

thanks for the info
I hate to admit this but at 43... I need all the fiber I can get so it's brown for me......Damn I'm getting old.![]()
In general the higher the fiber content, the lower the glycimic index of a starchy carb (it just takes longer to absorb).....so if your trying to lose fat, brown rice could be beneficial.
