Are there any particular fruits to target or avoid? or is it best to have a mix?

In my opinion all fruit (if in appropriate servings at appropriate times) is fine.. They are packed full of water, fibre, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals and lots of other beneficial things. They are also great in helping to keep your body in a 'fed' state - even when dieting... And this serves to help your metabolism stay up, helps keep your leptin and thyroid levels up, helps regulate blood glucose/insulin and will decrease your risk of going 'off' your diet!

You just have to be careful with portions (as with all foods)...

Yes, the higher glucose/higher calorie fruits such as pineapple, banana, mango etc are less ideal when cutting - they have higher calories, less fibre and more glucose... But they are not necessarily going to do anything 'horrible' or prevent you getting lean if you are on target for everything else.

But.... if you want things that are lower in calories, higher in fibre and lower in GI (the "safe" options - and things that will hold satiety and help with blood sugar a little more) then things like pears, apples, berries etc are your better options (although this usually mean they may be higher in fructose too - for those 'fructo-phobes').
