cycling bulking/cutting

Although most people think that its better to focus on either bulking or cutting, how well would cycling bulking and cutting work? An example of this would be 4-5 weeks of a clean bulk and then a 2-3 week cut and then repeat. In theory you would be able to gain lean muscle mass (although slower than a straight bulk) but would be able to get rid of existing fat in the process. I don't know if anyone has tried this but any advice or opinions on it would be greatly appreciated.

12 week clean bulk followed by a 6 week cut would work better, a 2-3 week cut is not long enough to do anything.

For bodybuilding purposes I believe in the following. 75% of the year you bulk and 25% you cut. This can be done by bulking for 12 weeks and then cutting for 4 weeks.
