    TV Dinners

    How bad are these things? I know hungry man's are loaded with sodium and preservatives. What about Lean Cuisines, Smart ones, Healthy choice? They have healthy names? How healthy are they?

    Just look at the labels and decide for yourself. Look at the obvious things like Calories, Carbs, Protein, Fat, Sat Fat, Sodium.

    I've eaten much worse on a bulk. The obvious answer you're going to get is stay away from pre-cooked and process foods at all cost. I say in a pinch do what you have to do, There are much worse things you could be doing to your body!

    The ingredients in these things are horid. They provide very little nutrients to your body, poor source of carbs, meats are Grade E at best and the veggies in them are seriously lacking any vitamins. There are much better things you could choose instead of a TV Dinner. I'm not even a protein bar advocate but I'd much rather you choose a protein bar over this.

    I'm piggy backing what the other posters said, that this stuff....it like radiation.

    We probably don't even know, all of the bad things that are in it.

    And the Healthy TV dinner?

    Compared to....what?

    Double base, just curious why you ask?

    Did you find one that you really liked? Are you really busy right now (too busy to cook)? A student?

    No, I work full-time. I sometimes get them to bring to work for lunch. They are very convenient. I eat about 3 of them a week. I eat 6 meals a day.

    You would be better off brown bagging a sandwich with 100% whole grain bread and turkey (I roast my own breast, but processed once in a while wont kill you) tomato slices peppers etc. Chicken, tuna, leftover steak, all good.

    The crap they put in those frozen meals is very bad if eaten everyday.

    If you want some thing hot, start planning your meals to make larger portions and freze the left overs in tupperware, and nuke them at work**** I don't nuke anything in plastic as carcinogens tend to leek out when exposed to heat***

    You can pre portion/freze all kinds of stuff:

    Soups, stews, chillis, Homemade burritos with rice and beans and chicken, Aroz con pollo with brown rice, chillis,peppers,chicken, is one of my favorites.

    Its kind of a pain, but once you get used to "overcooking" you get a routine down that your body and wallet will apreciate.

    Thanks for that. I normally eat rather well. Out of the 42 meals I eat every week. 3 of them are tv dinners. I usually eat more then just the tv dinner for lunch too. I could stop eating them its just laziness that is hindering me.

    I'd still disagree with eating those things even if it is 3 times per week.

    It's not healthy for you at all. There are much better and quick options out there.

    Well I'd never eat them, but in a pinch some of them are better than say a wooper with fries. Okay not really.

    But we all gotta make it work, I feel lucky that I'm a chef and can whip up great stuff in know time.....If not I dont know what i,d do
