    Is this nutrition label correct?

    Cary's Sugar Free Syrup

    Amount Per Serving

    Calories: 30
    Total Fat: 0g
    Total Carb: 12g
    Fiber: <1g
    Sugars: 0g
    Sugar Alcohol: 11g
    Protein: 0g

If there are 12 of carbs, logic would seem to dictate 48 calories per serving. What gives?

Sugar alcohols (like sorbitol, mannitol etc) are sweet, but (technically) not sugars & take much longer to digest (safe for diabetics). I thought they had 3.75 cals per gram like most other carbs (might be wrong), but I know they are not digested completely, and some of them pass into the colon undigested, causing squits if you eat too much.

Maybe the 2.5 cals accounts for the portion you will crap out.
