    Back in the Game

I took off 3 years from working out due to medical reasons. But now I have been cleared to resume my favorite past time. But I need some help since I have been away from the game and need some advice/help suggestions any thing. I started doing cardio yesterday 25 minutes on the tread mill and will continue to do that to build up my stamina and endurance. I have gain over 25 pounds of fat around my stomach while losing much of muscle mass. I currently weigh 226, 5' 9". I probably won't hit the weights until I drop some weight. I work two jobs, so time is tight. Right now until I can get my energy back to get up in the morning to workout I am working out at night at 9:30pm,which isn't ideal I know. Need some suggestions on eating, calorie intake, latest supplements, recommendations on cardio, anything that will help.

The first thing would be to read the sticky called Guide to Cutting et............ It's at the top of the Diet & Nutrition Forum.

The 2nd thing is you really need to re-consider waiting on a resistance program. Increasing LBM raises your metabolism and it's really your number one fat burner. Cardio, on the other hand, will only make you lose LBM because you are not using a weight training program. IOW - You will lose weight but you will actually be losing mostly muscle and by losing muscle you are gonna get flabbier. Remember LBM is your number one fat burner. So your actions are going to be counter-productive.

In order to lose bodyfat only you need a combination of diet, cardio AND Weight Training.
