    Cottage Cheese

Why does cottage cheese have so much sodium (450 mg per 1/2 cup)? Are there any brands that don't have a lot?

What is the max amount of sodium one should have per day?

Look for no salt added cottaged cheese. I don't know if they have Safeway/Von's/Dominick's/Ginardi's, but these stores carry it.

If you find some, it takes pretty bad on it's own. I would suggest adding things to it.

The RDA is ~2400mg - but it is not set in stone. Those who are active, sweat a lot or drink a lot may need to have more (as it is removed more from the body).

It is really only those who have heart or kidney disease who are strongly recommended to be on low sodium diets. For everyone else extra sodium is usually just excreted in urine.

Ya, I hear you. I wanted to add cottage cheese (a lot) to my diet, but my mom and granny tend to hold a lot of water when they have too much sodium, so I'm reluctant to see whether i do too.

Are you sure excess salt is extreted Emma, because I had about 2400 (through the cc) two days ago, and feel like i'm still holding a lot of water.

Buy no salt added and add NoSalt.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Just change shit in ur overall diet, like if u sumtimes use ketchup on eggs or something, dont. Mustard on ur turkey sandwich , dont. Thats what I do and did , i mean dont waste time looking for Cottage Cheese that has 100mg or so less sodium, just cancel out unneccesary shit.

I found stuff that only has 75 mg of salt per 100 grams off. and there is 250 g of cc in the whole package, so I just eat the whole thing without worrying
