    Bulking but cutting fat at the same time?

    Any tips on how to do this?

    Currently 150 lbs at 5"8 but have a lot of loose skin. I'm thinking of hitting cardio 5 days a week with 30 min sessions and eating 3 meals a day instead of 6. But the problem is, how will I get any bigger if I train this way? I have a lot of excess fat around the waste area. Will this work at all? I really don't want to loose any weight since i'm already a skeleton though.

    Loose skin will take time to go away. How sucessfull is it in going away will depend on your age and how fast you lost weight and how long you kept it off.

    Bulk = eat more

    Cut = eat less

    Either way you need to eat & train right and rest.

    Might wanna try a recomp. Eat ~10% above maintenance. I'm in the same boat (148 lbs now with less flab - started at 139lbs with flab around my waist) and doin this seems to help. Granted it's a painfully slow process but I can see the difference. FYI - I'm not doing much of any cardio maybe once or twice every 2 weeks for 20 minutes.

    Skip the cardio.

    Eat clean

    Weight train.

    12 months later, problem solved.

    Work hard and problem is solved in 6 months.

    I really do want cardio just for overall health. I want to take some martial art classes in the future. Going in at top shape is what I would want. Is there a difference between fat and loos skin? Or is it just another word for fat...

    By the way, I am 19.

    Skin = skin.
    Fat = fat.

    They are different tissues.

    Saggy skin if it is severe enough, may need surgery to correct it. As you are young, and if there is not a large amount of it, then it may partially resolve as you grow. Fat you can simply remove with diet and training.

    If you are 'small' then I don't think you should try to lose more weight... Recomposing sounds like the best idea... So:
    1. Stick with some cardio but jumping straight up to 5 days a week is not a good idea. Start with 2-3 and see how that goes - You need it (regardless of cutting or bulking).

    2. Continue to eat 5-6 meals a day. It will help control hunger as well as helping to stabilise/manipulate your hormones (like insulin). Make sure you get enough protein, healthy fats, fibre and carbs for your requirements... Just above or just below maintainence (or cycling around this level) is probably the best idea.

    3. Continue to train in a non-stupid way in the gym (adequate frequency, volume, progression etc).

    I may run into a problem with food though. I am starting work up at a mine and will be working in a warehouse and I will NOT have any control over what food is being cooked. I have no idea what they eat there, but I can not be picky about it. I'm just a little worried that it may become a problem. Hopefully not though. I do know they have a gym and weights.

    If your 150lbs at 5 ft8 I would advise you to train in progressive increases. You have a lot of scope for natural weight gain which is seriously reduced when attempting to both bulk and cut at the same time. True it can be achieved in early training due to the massive increase in muscle stimulating activity but after this period it is scientifically obviously bulking is optimal in an anabolic state, cutting in a catabolic. Don't try both at once.

    If you are worried about fat use low intensity cardio 2 - 3 times per week 45 minutes first thing in the morning preferably on an empty stomach or if this is not possible straight after your weight training but ensure you take whey protein incorporating BCAA's between the two.

    when a decent level of lbm has been added which incidentally will reduce your bodyfat as a % anyway. Then cut. I'd say go for around 170 then cut back to around 162 then re - evaluate.
