You will retain lbm with 1.0 grams per lb if you are working out. Beyond that, studies don't show any benefit of eating extra protein. In fact you are better off taking those extra protein calories and eating carb calories instead. You will get a better workout from the increased energy.

Yes but as with a few issues in bodybuilding this is one where I believe studies and actual experience conflict. I have cut both ways. I was much more successful by cutting carbs and raising protein than I was in the same calorie deficit with a lower protein content.

Depends on genetics there is no catch all in regards to this question.

im 5'10 200lbs dont know my bf %..... i eat one banana + protein shake (2 scoops which = 60g) after 45 minutes of cardio on empty stomach. then i go to school and for lunch i have a salad with chicken and veggies. then i go home and go to the gym and do 45 more minutse of cardio then lift afterwards. i go home and have 2 more scoops protein (60g) with another banana. then for dinner it changes everynight but usually i just make myself a salad or veggies or something.

    any advice will help

p.s. i didnt mean to say 240 with shakes......i meant 120 with shakes.

You need to eat around 6 times per day. Small and often and be consuming some form of protein every three hours.

You should do cardio after weight training not before as this way you are in a state of glycogen depletion and the cardio is a much more effective fat burner. You should have a protein shake incorporating BCAA's after your weights training but before your cardio.

Your goal is not to lose weight but to lose fat. The two are different. You want to retain as much of your lbm as possible.

PM me for advice bro if you want.

BiggT, i suggest that you study the sticky 'Guide to...' and come up with a suggested diet. Then post it meal by meal with all cals and macro beeakdown for a critique. Diet is most important in changing body composition.

A proper training routine is also required. See the stickies in the training forum for help. Cardio is good for cardiovascular health, but dont look at it as the most important thing to help you loose fat.

I agree - although I do recommend glutamine if:
    1. you are severly hypocalorific dieting (think semi-starvation stuff)
    2. you have an illness, injury or disease (esp GIT diseases)
    3. you are doing endurance training

At even then you have to make sure you actually get enough to get past your intestinal mucosa and make it into systemic circulation... and you have to make sure you are dosing at frequent enough intervals to maintain a good blood level...

At all other times it is worthless...
