What if I don't take fish oils?

How much will my quest for the perfect body suffer if I choose not to take fish oils?

Also, if I do take them, can I take them by themselves or do I need flaxseed oils as well?

Fish oil is an omega 3 fatty acid. You do not need flax to go with it as flax is another omega 3 FA. However flax must convert to EPA/DHA where as Fish Oil is readily available EPA/DHA. I personally feel they should be part of everyones diet regardless of goals.

The question I would be asking myself is why I aren't I taking fish oils today lol. Seriously! Here are few things it has been proven to help with.

1. block fat storage before it even starts
2. prevents fat cell growth and multiplication
3. force excess nutrients to be rapidly burned as fuel, which is important in attempting to lose body fat.
4. help to reduce cravings
5. help lower serum triglyceride levels
6. reduces blood pressure
7. minimizes hardening of the arteries
8. stabilizes heart rhythm
9. Omega 3's are essential for optimal brain development and function.
10. fish oils help you lose fat!
11. anti-inflammatory especially for sore joint.

Hope that answers your question.

Bump to Jodi. There is also some good info in this thread (EFAs help me!) about fish oils if you want to read it.

I just started taking fish caps a few weeks age. I take one cap per meal (total of 6). Is it ok to take 2 caps per meal three times a day?

Since fish caps help carve appetite- would two at a time help carve more? I'm asking that b/c i/m eating 3 meals w/o carbs (as Jodi rec) & notice myself hungry.

Any advice would be great.

2 caps 3 times a day is fine as would be 3 caps taken 2 times a day (and to my knowledge this small amount is not helpful in curbing appitite - you would need at least 5g of fat to achieve that).

If the carbs in your meals helped with appetite then consider putting them back. Distributing the carbs evenly is not going to be too much of an issue and if it was working for you then leave it... But how about adding some fibre to the meals that you are getting hungry with?

To help with her fat loss, I suggested restructuring her carbs. She was eating all 6 meals with carbs. Instead of lowering the carbs, I suggested she cut those carb meals to 3 a day structured around Meal 1, Pre & Post. She should not be cutting back on the amount of daily carbs but making those 3 meals have more carbs and a variety.

I beleive I also mentioned to move the fat around too so that she is injesting more fat with her new P&F only meals. That should have helped with the hunger too. As Emma said, adding some sf psyllium husk drink will also help with the hunger pangs.
