What do you think of BioTest's bit about the DHA to EPA ratio in their supplement being a lot more favorable in men? They claim to base it on studies that says women are capable of synthesizing DHA much more readily than males due to their higher estrogen and lower testosterone levels. They also cite other studies showing more favorable results with DHA as opposed to EPA.

About fish oils.(And I'm not saying I agree with this, scientists ought to be locked away in a padded room)
For at least 20 years doctors have been urging their patients to eat more oily fish to benefit the heart. Adding two servings a week of mackerel, salmon and similar fish to the family shopping list was believed to help fend off cardiovascular disease.
Now a major new study suggests the advice was wrong. Scientists who reviewed no fewer than 89 studies of omega 3 fats, the key constituent of fish oils thought to protect against heart disease, found no clear evidence that they are of any use at all.

And this is a few studies, I could show thousands that say otherwise. Personally I stick with my fish oil as I do see good results from it when I use the correct amount. Not to mention that my grandmother was able to come off her coumadin because she uses fish oil. Proof is in the pudding.

Two servings a week is insufficient in my opinon. That is why we ingest fish oil daily and I pump up my omega-3 sources via other methods at the same time. The studies are right, two servings per week of oily fish is probably not enough to produce noticeable results in most people.Originally Posted by Nick+
