Increasing Calories for 3 days only?

I was just reading an article from bodybuilding.com about gaining mass. It says to increase your calorie intake by 50% for 3 days only.

Quote..the additional calories will promote anabolism before fat storage is able to kick in. That's why you want to limit the 50% increase to a three day period. After that time, return to your typical intake of daily calories; you'll have stimulated new growth without adding unwanted fat.

Is this actually a good idea? From all the nutrition info I read about gaining mass I never heard this before, it's usually just increase it for good or keep increasing it.

Although cyclic diets are very useful (for both gaining mass and losing fat) I am pretty sure that that is a useless idea.

Fat storage is going to kick in with 50% overfeeding for 3 days. Especially if that extra 50% is from fat calories... And especially if you are not in a serverly hypocalorific state for the other 4 days of the week.

In 99% of the population a general linear increase in calories is what is needed. If you want to get tricky and look into a diet where you do these types of cyclic re-feed then consider BodyOpus or UD2.
