    What is salad?

This is rather a strange question; what is salad?

I can't seem to find any info on the breakdown of salad, such as how carbohydrate counts and such. Of course it is a vegetable, but when I come to think of it, I have never really been concerned of the carbohydrate count of vegetables... hah.

I've been eating salads more often due to a pickup station at my school that makes great salads, but I'm not sure how nutriet packed salad really is. Maybe I will throw down a single-scoop shake with the salad I consume almost daily?

You need to know what is used in the salad to determine those figures.

i don't really think you need to start counting the calories in lettuce.

No, of course not... that would be kind of rediculous.

The thought came to mind when I decided to have a "Chef Salad" around a half hour after I finished my PWO shake. So essentially, it was my PPWO meal, but it just felt like it was missing the nutrients I was looking for. But which nutrients was the question that got me interested... are they carbs or a carb that just doesn't really count due to the GI level.

Definetly hear ya on that. I had a "Chef Salad", consisting of ham slices, turkey slices, cucumbers/tomatoes and some peppers mixed in all over lettuce. It even had a half an egg in it. The dressing I just happened to use was fat free dressing, but the calories still add up.

In case I didn't add- It was delicious! When your hungry, salad has such a great munch to it; must be the texture that gets me going. Weird, but, yeah.

Balslamic Vinegar is a great subsitute for otherwise moderately high calorie dressings.
