    Unhappy PWO shake

    I'm looking to cut.

What is a good shake for after workouts.

Currently I do a scoop of optimum whey with some natty PB. That's only like 22g of protein.

    Is that enough?
I'm 33 years old, 5'-10", and 169lb - I'm fairly lean and have an athletic shape. My goal is to cut down to 164lb in six weeks, w/o sacrificing muscle mass. HELP!!

Go for 35G of protein. Also, add some oats to that shake.

Cut out the peanut butter as well; fats slow the digestion process.

Yes, peanut butter is awesome in shakes.... makes it taste amazing.
But, the fats are what you want to avoid in PWO, and the surplus of calories is also an issue if you are cutting.

You could just go with that, maybe double your protein intake to approximately 40g of whey, or you could throw in some carbs if you'd like.

Oats work, dextrose works (really close in taste to sugar, will make it very sweet), or even a banana will help. Maybe even rice cakes, which is something that I have been enjoying lately. They add a whole food to the PWO meal instead of just a liquid... I'm normally really hungry after lifting.

Since your cutting I'd go with straight whey and oats. Try to stay away from the high GI carbs...ie insulin spike when trying to cut.

And for future shakes...I use to get the natty pb and drain the fat out....let it sit and keep draining all the additional oil out so I would get a very dense PB...add a bit of that to the shake for flavor without as many cals.

Especially because you are cutting......a little bit of fat is good for PWO. It slows down the digestion which in turns slows down the spike. When cutting, this is ideal.

How much fat would be optimal in a PWO shake during a cut?

You dont want to much fat just a little bit...a small ratio of your caloric intake...everyone is different. I am no expert on fat amounts....I've played with many ratios but I'd probably have to say depening on your size how about like 10-15g fat? Depening how much you want to slow it down. But then again dont take that as gospel ya know!

Would this interfere with CEE postworkout? Yeah, I finding out that everything doesn't work for everybody.
